Winfried decides to improve his frosty relationship with his daughter Ines by surprising her with a spontaneous visit. Ines is fully committed to a complex work project, so taking care of her goofy father is not something she prioritizes. However, Winfried does not intend to give up without a fight and infiltrates his daughter's life as an eccentric lifestyle coach, called Toni Erdmann. A decision that will have unexpected consequences. "For anyone who thought that Germans do not have humor and that German film cannot be fun, My father Toni Erdmann is a pleasant surprise but also an intelligent thought provoker," writes Jeanette Gentele in SvD. The film was awarded the Critics Prize in Cannes and was nominated for both an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film 2017.
