The Workers Cup

Allowed to all 92 minutes 2017 6.8

In the world of sports, one event rises above all else: The World Cup of Football. In 2022, this grand competition is hosted by Qatar, and in The Workers Cup we follow some of the 1,6 million people who, tricked with promises of money, football careers and new lives, work under slave like conditions to build the arenas in which the games will be played. While their work continues, a football tournament is organized, which, while serving as a promotional tool for the construction companies, has a whole other meaning for the workers. In a work process that has been closed to the outside world, this documentary allow us to get a unique insight that is both touching and frightening.
