The life of a grumpy English teacher changes when he becomes friends with a penguin in this reality-based dramedy that goes straight to the heart.

The Englishman Tom (Steve Coogan) ends up with a persistent penguin after rescuing it from an oil spill. At the Argentine boarding school where Tom was recently hired, the little guest becomes the students' favorite and charms everyone from Tom's eccentric colleague Tapio (Björn Gustafsson) to Headmaster Buckle (Jonathan Pryce). Outside the school walls, a turbulent political reality makes itself felt, but when a friend is in danger, Tom is initially reluctant to get involved. Yet, having saved a penguin is like saving a piece of his soul he thought was lost, and suddenly Tom realizes what all his newfound friends mean to him.
