About service

Who develops this service

Distribution license: Kirjastopalvelu Oy

The service is developed by Kirjastopalvelu Oy in cooperation with NorgesFilm AS.

The technological platform is developed by NorgesFilm AS.

The service provides public libraries with a digital film offer for its users. The films are selected by librarians at Kirjastopalvelu based on quality and variety criteria, and considering the principle of accessibility for all.

Considering the limitations that can exist concerning license agreements with film companies and distributors, our intention is, nonetheless to select the best films from all genres. We will continue working non-stop to increase the number of license agreements with operators and to be able to provide an ever more diverse offer. We prioritize Finnish and European quality films over the latest blockbuster, since our focus is for this service to be used as a complement to the existing commercial streaming offer. Subsequently, the intention of this service is not to present all the movies, but instead the thought-out selection that can even be hard to find anywhere else.

About security

To ensure that only registered library users have access to the movies, they are all protected with a digital encryption, DRM, which stands for Digital Rights Management. This means that only users with the encryption key have permission to start the movie and view it on their computer.

About licenses

The movies you can borrow are licensed for private viewing only. There are films from Finnish and international film producers for both children and adult audience.
