In this John le Carré thriller, the young English couple Perry (Ewan McGregor) and Gail (Naomie Harris) meet an enigmatic, rich Russian businessman (Stellan Skarsgård) during the holidays. What they do not know is that he is involved in the Russian mafia as a money launderer. As the mafia reorganizes, he has become worried for the safety of himself and his family and is now trying to defect to the British intelligence. All of a sudden, the couple is caught in a deadly hunt, taking them from Marrakech to London and Paris, and finally to the Swiss Alps.
