The unemployed Antonio finally gets a job that requires him to have a bike. To get money for food, he has pledged the bike, which he managed to solve by pledging the family's bed linen instead. A few hours later Antonio’s bike is stolen. Since it is meaningless to contact the police and he recognizes the thief, he, together with his son, starts a chase through Rome's streets. In the end, he sees no other advice than stealing someone else's bike, but he gets stuck and almost dies in jail. One of Neorealism's most famous and praised masterpieces with Lamberto Maggiorani, Enzo Staiola, and Lianella Carell.
