In the Oscar-nominated Mustang, we follow five orphaned teenage sisters who live with their grandmother and uncle in a small village on the Black Sea. The school has just finished and the girls are happy and excited about the upcoming summer vacation. On the way home from graduation they are laughing and joking with some of the guys from the village. What they see as an innocent fun time, others see that as an immorality. When they come home, they are met by a stern grandmother, who is worried that their value on the marriage market has decreased. The story grows to unprecedented proportions and the sisters' freedom suffers more and more. Their home becomes a prison, but the rebellion is bubbling under the surface.
